The Walker Butte K-8 Elementary School located on Hunt Highway was generously donated entirely by George Johnson. Due to lack of funding for new construction, Mr. Johnson immediately offered to not only donate the land but to pay for the construction of a brand new elementary school for the ever growing community of San Tan Valley. It serves over 1,400 students from preschool to 8th grade. In addition to standard statewide class curriculum, Walker Butte offers gifted and talented classes along with special education programs.
